There are so many people out there losing jobs and can't afford it. Why does it have to be so much? It's the govorment not wanted to help because they just don't care. If they did they have enough money to help people!Nights_that_never_endhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12919466626837987140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19519162.post-58930267902072213122009-01-25T07:45:00.000-05:002009-01-25T07:45:00.000-05:00It's shocking to read something like this. I would assume they are the solution, even if there aren't many of those.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19519162.post-51743174021819679202008-10-07T14:36:00.000-04:002008-10-07T14:36:00.000-04:00I wish the best for you and your family. Her doctor didn't associate her symptoms with that disease (she was 91 and they thought it was just old age). My father has also had to have polyps removed as well, so I know that I will need to be screened earlier rather than later...Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10760738994255145588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19519162.post-20437480700891046902008-09-24T19:27:00.000-04:002008-09-24T19:27:00.000-04:00Hi Jen,Excellent article. I am not sure where to ...Hi Jen,

Excellent article. I am not sure where to start. Our health care / health insurance system is so mixed up that the best advice I could give is to do all you can to avoid it. Many have said that we don't need more health insurance we need more health. That can only be achieved naturally through the healthy lifestyle choices we make. Daily I hear how time consuming and difficult getting healthy is for the majority of people. I also see that people don't realize that HMO or PPOs really mean that your health insurance has limited care and coverage. Cut rate care means high deductibles and rejected claims and an insurance company making plenty off your health or denying your illness. It is simple an HMO is an agreement by an insurance company to cover a group of people for a set amount. Lets say you have 100 employees and your HMO agreement is for coverage at a certain rate, regardless of those employees conditions, the health insurance company has structured the plan so they make money. Health insurance is a business and in our country businesses are only concerned with making profits.

It is as frusterating for providers as it is for patients. Providers have 2 options, sign on with insurance companies and let them dictate how you care for patients or be an out of network provider and risk not having as much health insurance money coming in but have the right to help patient as you see fit. Also, many patient are weary of going to out of network providers b/c they may have to pay more. Our system sucks. Diagnosing is also tricky b/c you want to utilize a diagnosis that is valid and will be approved by the insurance company for care but not one that will limit people's future insurability.

On top of that it takes the average insurance claim 3-4 months to be paid or denied and the associated paperwork takes hours daily. For example, tonight I have over 50 notes to do from today alone and each note usually takes between 1-3 minutes after the hours we were open seeing patients.

One tip I would give everyone is not to die in our country. 1/3 of the 2.2 trillion dollars we spend on sickness care is in the last year of people's lives.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19519162.post-80297151305615185242008-08-26T19:58:00.000-04:002008-08-26T19:58:00.000-04:00This post was very well written. I lucked out with insurance when I had cancer, and lucky enough that my parents were able to field the additional costs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19519162.post-54513692327588405022008-08-25T15:47:00.000-04:002008-08-25T15:47:00.000-04:00I don't even want to go into the horrors of what I...I don't even want to go into the horrors of what I have to deal with - and I'm not even licensed yet. We hear so many stories of how crappy insurance companies are - denying claim after claim - hoping that the consumer will get fed up with the runaround and forget about the claim. It's horrible but true. . .Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19519162.post-62327965671694845662008-08-25T13:11:00.000-04:002008-08-25T13:11:00.000-04:00Great job Jenn. I fear getting sick and I would rather die then lose everything I own. At least my love ones will have something but bills to remember me by.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
